Seaview Weaving and Fiber Arts Guild meets from September through May, on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. We meet at:
ArtWorks
201 2nd Ave, South, Edmonds, WA
Masks are currently optional
We start gathering at 9:30am for a social time, and to check out library books. Our programs start at 10am, followed by a business meeting and Show and Tell. Come join us! We provide tea and coffee.
Although we like to honor our over seventy year history as the Seaview Weavers Guild, we have recently changed our name to describe a little better how we have evolved. The Seaview Weaving and Fiber Arts Guild is not just a weaving guild, we have expanded our interests into all the fiber arts. Knitting, spinning, papermaking, printmaking, book arts, felting, silk fusion, card making, surface design on fabric, quilting, soft sculpture — if it can be done with fiber, we do it. We are a small, friendly group, and if you enjoy any of these arts, we would love to have you come and visit.
If we have a paid speaker we charge non-members $5, which can be applied towards membership that day. If we don’t have a paid speaker, you are welcome to visit as a guest. Our dues are $40. per year, prorated down if you join us later in the year.
Hello,
I work for Sno-Isle Libraries and I am working with a small group to develop a contact list for one of our 2008 program themes: “Do It Yourself.”
The categories for DIY that I am working on are: Quilting, Sewing, Knitting, Tatting, Textiles, Carding and or Spinning
Right now we are putting together a list of presenters for interested libraries to contact. We are looking for presenters who could come to one (or more) of our Branches and share their expertise with the community. This would be throughout 2008 that programs might take place. Our library branches are in Snohomish and Island Counties. http://www.sno-isle.org/page/?ID=1
If this is something you would be interested in doing please let me know by responding to this email.
Also if you know of someone who might like to be a presenter if you could send me their contact information or forward this information I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thank you for your time!

Laura, thank you for stopping by this page! Trust a librarian to be able to find groups like us 🙂 I’ll send you a separate email to discuss this further.

Laura and Astrid,
Just stumbled across the blog and saw this thread from a number of months ago. Somehow, the power of the web to connect people never ceases to amaze me.
Though we’re mostly Seattle metro, not as much in Edmonds, if you ever have seminars, classes, etc. you’d like blogged about, please feel free to let me know and I’d love to mention it to the Teachstreet” network, which consists of 25,000 + Seattle area teachers, classes, and students.
We have many Moms, artisans, weekend class takers, etc. who’d likely be interested.
Thanks,
Sam
Is is possible to get an e-mail address for one of your presenters? I am interested in getting in touch with Dorna Stone. I think my grandmother learned to make oriental rugs from her mother. Thank you.
Hello, Fiber Arts Group:
I am looking for someone in Snohomish County who raises sheep. I would like to arrange for a late June field trip for a vacation Bible school. Also, three of our Sunday School teachers, including me, are fiber nuts and have our own reasons for getting acquainted.
Sincerely, Leah Timberlake
VBS coordinator
Our Dear Mildred Smith/Holder passed away two weeks ago. The family would like to invite you to join them at Mildred’s home in a memorial picnic potluck. There will be places to visit wet or dry weather. Saturday Oct 17th 19805 Fales Rd, Snohomish, wa 98296 just a couple of driveways from 522 and Echo Lake exit. Feel free to contact me Fonnell Reagan
Thank you for passing on that sad news. I’ll let the Seaview folks know. Unfortunately, I’ll be vending at an event that day, otherwise I’d be there.
What time is the event?
You are welcome all day starting at 11am on. Mildred’s son-in-law is a wonderful BBQ man and he will keep the food coming. Feel free to bring your spinning wheel if the weather is good. Fonnell
Thanks for the info!
I am trying to contact Sharon Baker. She held a rug hooking class at our shop and left some of her kits which need to be returned to her. The telephone number we have is no longer in service.
Thanks
I’m sorry to say that Sharon Baker died in 2013, and we have no contact information for her family. Here is a link to an online obituary. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/seattletimes/obituary.aspx?pid=164523362
I am looking for a class to learn wet wool felting. If you would please let me know if you are going to have another class I would appreciate it. I live on the Eastside so if you know of any classes or instructors closer to home that would be great too.
Thanks,
Linda
We don’t currently have any plans for a wet felting class, but check back in September when we are getting our programs lined up for the next meeting year (Sept-May). Weaving Works in Seattle does wet felting classes sometimes, but I don’t see any currently on their class listings. http://weavingworks.com/
Greetings,
I have noticed one of my images https://www.flickr.com/photos/horticultural_art/5137724768/ on your site https://seaviewweavers.wordpress.com/.
I would greatly appreciate attribution and a link back to the original work.
Thank you…and by the way, you have a very nice website.
Fred Michel
Our apologies for posting the image without checking with you. Our web manager can’t figure out how to do the attribution and link back to the original, so we have removed the image.
I’ve cataloged Mildred Holder’s sewing, spinning, weaving and knitting items. I was wondering if your group would like to have this list. The family would just like people interested to make a fair offer on items. I will handle that. I have photos also. Who should I contact about this?
You can send me an email at astrbear (at) comcast (dot) net and I will pass the info on to the Seaview membership.
I’m planning on attending your September 13, 2016 meeting. I hope you are still meeting.
We’re having a small get together at someone’s house tomorrow, so no regular meeting. Please join us in October.
Hello,
I am new to the area and discovered your fiber guild online. I am not sure if you are accepting new members to the guild. I enjoy knitting, sewing, beading, weaving and experimenting with various textiles. I would be interested in learning new techniques and meeting other artist with like interest.
Thank you,
Cyndy Hill
We are always open to new members! We’d love to see you at any upcoming meeting. Check the schedule on the “Seaview Meeting Calendar” link at the top of the page.
I am the daughter of Ruth Locke, longtime Seaview WG member. At 97, she is still going strong, but her vision has made it impossible for her to weave any longer. We are looking for a ‘loving home’ for her loom and accessories, as she has had to move out of her independent living situation. Do you guys have a “classified ads” capability, or do you know of anyone who might be interested in her equipment? If so, let me know and I’ll happily forward specifics, photos, or arrange a showing. thanks so much!

Julie, I’m sending you an email.

I have a maple 48″ loomcraft 4 harness floor loom that I would like to rehome (free), along with shuttles, etc. Do you have a newletter that could make this information available to your members? Please let me know and I can provide you with the details. I am in the Everett area.
You can email me directly at astrbear (at) Comcast (dot) net
Hello Astrid,
I was a member of your guild years ago, but I found that working full-time prevented me from spending as much time on the loom as I wished. But I found wonderful inspiration and fellowship in the meetings, for which I volunteered to serve as librarian.
I have had a beautiful Nilus Leclerc floor loom in my living room for several years. I “play” with it periodically and also just love the look of it in that room. However, I’m facing the reality that it’s simply taking up space and is not nearly so appreciated as it once was (I saved up for months in order to buy it originally.) and as it could be appreciated by someone who is as in love with weaving as I was.
I also have several shuttles, yarn, and many books if anyone would like them — or you could add them to your library!
I would love to attend the October meeting as a guest and perhaps see folks who were there when I was. I would also bring pictures of the loom and hope to find it a new home.
Sincerely,
Jean Eisele
Hi, Jean, I remember you! Looking forward to seeing you in October, and I think there will be a few others you’ll recall as well. We’d be happy to help you find a home for your loom, etc.
I am looking for a weaving tutor to come to my home for lessons. Is any one aware of someone that does that?
I have a loom and accessories to sell (I will be moving onto a boat), and would like to share the info with your members, if possible. Located in Bellingham.
Sending you a direct email.
I am down sizing and found some of my materials from when I belonged to the guild. They would fit in to the history type of material. would be happy to give them to the group.
I’m afraid we don’t have any spare storage space at this time.
I am looking for any information on Christ Gunderson spinning wheels. I have access to one (#2 of his) and want to know if there are any more out there. Thanks. Please private email me with any info if you have it. I can supply photos if needed.
Sorry, we don’t any information on these wheels. You might try Northwest Regional Spinner’s Association (NWRSA). https://www.nwrsa.net/
Hello.. Christ Gunderson was my g-g Grandfather and he was known for his spinning wheels (among other wood crafting items). If you ever decide to sell the wheel you already have that my grandpa made.. please keep me in mind.. it would nice to have it back in the family again.
I am interested in learning weaving…….do you offer any type of instructions?
Thank you,
Joy Spaulding
We don’t offer instructions as a Guild, but some individual members may offer instructions as individuals. If you come to a meeting you can ask. Also, Weaving Works has an upcoming beginning weaving class in Lynnwood. https://weavingworks.com/collections/classes/products/class-19q3-intro-to-weaving-on-a-4-shaft-loom-september
Brand new weaver here looking for my first loom. Online recommendations say to contact my local guild. I’m in Lynnwood so I’m assuming you are as local as it gets. Please let me know if you have any leads on looms for sale. Thank you so much!
Welcome to the world of weaving! I hope you’ll stop by one of our meeting sometime. For looms, check the listings here. I’m also sending you an email with listings of equipment for sale that Seattle Weavers Guild sent me recently. https://northwestweavers.org/classifieds/for-sale-weaving/
Are you currently holding guild meetings?
Our meeting year runs from September through May. We currently plan to resume in-person meetings at ArtWorks in September. All attendees need to be masked. We will also offer the option of attending via Zoom. Check the Meeting Calendar tab for details in September. I hope you can join us!
Hello,
My name is Jo and I am working on a research project about the history of fiber arts in Snohomish county and how it relates to current fiber artists today. Could you please contact me by email so I can give you more information about my project? I would l appreciate any information and connections you could provide me.
Thank you!
-Jo
Intriguing project! You can me email me at astridabear (at) gmail.com.
Is the schedule correct, that the Seaview Weaving and Fiber Arts Guild was held today, the 13th, on a Monday? I was hoping to attend on the 2nd Tuesday.
Hi. I would like to attend join the guild and attend the October meeting. Is there a kit fee and do I just show up?
Hi Karen, yes this next month the kit fee is $18 and comes with everything you need. I will email you with more details.
I would like to join and cannot find the date of the next meeting on the site. Is it too late to join the next meeting? Also where do the meetings take place? Thanks so much!
The meeting information is in the Calendar tab. Our next meeting is February 13: Fair Isle knitting technique with Leslie Greenquist from All Wound Up. Plus, separate group for beginner/refresher knitting. Here’s more info:
Knitting ‘Breakout’ sessions
Leslie Greenquist from All Wound Up will join us again for another fun knitting program. Her class will focus on Fair Isle Knitting. For those of you who feel Fair Isle is too advanced and would like a refresher on knitting or you have always wanted to learn to knit, Yvonne Ellsworth will hold a separate class at the same time. The supply list is below.
Leslie will do a short introduction about the greater subject of color-work in knitting, with a final focus on the Fair Isle 2-handed knitting technique as a transition to the break out groups. Attached is the hat pattern she uses to teach the class. She will focus on what she calls the “The 5 Points of Fair Isle Knitting”, and would like her students to complete the ribbing before class. You can try the Corrugated Ribbing using videos 1 (Old Norwegian Cast-on) and 2 (Corrugated Ribbing) in the YouTube channel, link below, or a single color 2×2 Ribbing if you prefer.
