February 2023

Elaine Twogood and Sheila Wray of Beyond the Basic Basket did a wonderful mini-workshop on Nantucket style basketry around a votive candle.

First we got go to pick our supplies — they had done a lot of prep work ahead of time, but we chose the colors of our weavers.

Then they showed us how to begin weaving with the cane weavers.

Having the base glued on and the weft canes in place was a big help.

Here are our finished and almost finished weavings.

And here are sample pieces that Elaine and Sheila did. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Our show and tell included a new quilt by Michelle Murnane, a vintage quilt, and Cynthia Blair’s Covid-era houses.
