February 2024

For our February meeting Leslie Greenquist from All Wound Up showed us how to knit fair-isle hats.

The activity was enjoyed by our members. Here are some works in progress

A second group was formed for those who weren’t ready for Fair Isle, including one member who had never knit before! She was a natural!

Leslie shared with us some examples of color knitting and colorwork from her shop

Our show and tell included a knitted sweater by Christine Stewart; Towels by Yvonne Ellsworth (which are published in Handwoven magazine Spring 2024), as well as a sample of 8-shaft overshot, and a knit hat; a hooked rug by Karen West; sewn bags from leftover quilt scraps by Shirley Pauls with some more examples of felted paper items.

Next month our program will be on March 12th with a weaving round table. Try out rigid heddle, multi-shaft looms, or inkle weaving round robin fashion.

September 2023

For our first meeting of the 2023-2024 meeting year, member Valerie Day showed us how to dye silk scarves and paper using Spectra Art Paper.

First we wetted the scarf or paper and then we arranged the Spectra Art Paper. The colors then bleed and color the scarf/paper.

We had some great items for show and tell:

Valerie Day shared her new quilt she made from a class she took this summer.

Vicki Goff shared her ikat weaving project where she played with weave structures (left). She also shared yarn she dyed (right) this summer at a dye workshop hosted by fellow member Yvonne Ellsworth.

Patty Leinweber shared her amazing cards she made over the summer.

Susan Lindsay shared some collages she has been working on using gelli plates. She plans to host a program on it in September.

Next month our program will be on Kumihimo bracelets with Shirley Pauls. See you in October!
